Overview

We are looking for a talented Social Media Director to join our fast-growing and dynamic team in North America. You will be responsible for overseeing and growing all the paid social operations within Social Lab. You will manage the strategic WPP partnerships and different client teams managing Fortune 500 companies (+$40M annually). You will lead a paid social team of over 30 people and provide strategic direction and leadership for key clients and agency stakeholders. In addition, you will be the key POC between WPP agencies and Social.Lab, responsible for key strategic partnerships and their development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team developing and executing framework of innovative paid social media plans across the group and key clients
  • Manage, develop, train and coach a cross-client team of 3-5 Associate Directors overseeing a team of around 30 talents (Social Supervisors, Social Planners and Assistant Social Planners)
  • Advise on comprehensive media and strategic frameworks that address client objectives and challenges
  • Lead and develop cross-discipline communication planning and drive synergy with Paid Search, Programmatic, Display, Content Syndication, etc
  • Develop strong client relationships and build trusted partnerships
  • Build, develop and maintain effective WPP agencies relationships
  • Recommend innovative strategy and media tactics consistent with media and content briefing
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, etc
  • Ensure Social.Lab operating procedures are applied across accounts and deviate in specific cases to build custom operating procedures (per client)
  • Demonstrate ability to present strategies/plans/pitches to all level of clients
  • Proactively seek out media opportunities and/or industry news to develop a sharp and up-to-date approach to media planning, and disseminate across the team
  • Work closely with the CEO and Managing Director to identify and grow incremental business opportunities
  • Develop thought-leadership and provide owned POVs to clients and partners
  • Keep a close relationship with Social.Lab HQ and other hubs in order to benefit from best practices but also educate other markets with US cases
  • Enlarge the opportunities of paid social by exploring new pilots and work with other Directors to build proprietary tools
  • Integrate team of experts into our different client/agency team while keeping the culture, mindset, and knowledge of Social.Lab
  • Manage professional relationships with WPP agency leaders and practice leaders
  • Lead team meetings around industry news and social cases

Ensure sourcing of a weekly social newsletter and work with agency leads for distribution

Qualifications

  • Education: min. Bachelor’s degree in Advertising or Communications
  • Work experience: 7-10 years of experience in digital media planning (preferably paid social), including 3-5 years management experience required
  • Large agency experience preferred (WPP agency is a plus)
  • Very strong experience in developing robust, creative, innovative and sharp paid social strategies and media plans
  • Strong understanding of digital landscape and how/where bridges are build between paid social and other channels
  • Strong team management and coordination
  • Extensive experience in writing and presenting information
  • Ability to evaluate, design and execute streamlined processes across clients and within the group
  • Ability to stimulate and motivate junior team and develop team skills and careers
  • Strong track-record of business growth and incremental scope conversions
  • Strong technical knowledge of paid social tools and external vendors
