    The Data Strategist will lead development and execution of comprehensive data and measurement strategies across a range of digital products and platforms. The Data Strategist will work closely with clients to understand both business and user experience objectives in order to establish key performance indicators (KPIs), analytics tools and methodologies needed to evaluate success. This role will work closely with Product, Technology and Design teams to define tagging strategies, lead and validate analytics setup, and implement testing strategies as needed. The Data Strategist will also be responsible for ongoing data mining and analysis, as well as be expected to distill and present actionable insights based on data to inform design decision-making and communicate the effectiveness of design solutions. The Data Strategist will serve as the day-to-day measurement point for key clients in addition to playing a significant thought leadership role internally as Effective continues to evolve as an industry-leader in user experience (UX) measurement and data-driven design. 

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Understand and communicate client objectives, measurement goals and key success metrics - develop and execute on comprehensive data and measurement strategies based on these objectives:
    • Serve as daily measurement and analytics point for key clients
    • Assess clients' current measurement state and recommend new methodologies and tools
    • Develop, implement and validate tagging strategies as needed across a range of digital products and platforms
    • Work closely with product & tech teams to ensure site/application is tagged for accurate and meaningful analytics. Ensure the same for all future product developments.
    • Work with Insights team to develop and implement quantitative testing approaches
    • Establish turnkey reporting tools and templates that enable you to quickly provide on-the-fly stats and reports as needed
    • Lead project tracking, analysis and ongoing optimization
    • Distill and present insights based on data to internal design and client teams
    • Analyze multiple data sources to identify relevant customer behaviors and pain points
    • Perform cross-project data mining, analysis and reporting to support design, research, sales, thought leadership and management teams
    • Provide consistent insight into effectiveness of design solutions and help inform design decision-making based on analysis of engagement patterns over time
    • Establish and manage company's internal database and benchmarks
    • Identify new opportunities to utilize data and analytics to advance Effective's offerings and industry thought leadership
    • Stay current with best in class analytics and measurement tools

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
    • Hands on experience with web analytics and reporting systems (examples including Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics/Omniture Site Catalyst, Doubleclick, Keen, etc)
    • Strong understanding of analytics tagging principles, best practices and tools (Google Tag Manager, DTM, etc)
    • Experience with major testing methodologies (A/B, multivariate) and tools
    • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc)
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup, large files, graphing, etc)
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations from data
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and present data and insights to both internal and external client teams
    • Self-starter with strong project management skills, attention to detail and ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment

     

    Preferred Skills

    • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and data visualization tools
    • Experience with databases, ETL frameworks and a working knowledge of SQL
    • Experience with data formats, such as XML, JSON, etc
    • Strong knowledge of website development and experience working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
