Overview

Are you passionate about leading social change that reduces vulnerability to natural disasters? Ogilvy is seeking an experienced communications professional to join our dynamic Philadelphia, PA-based account team working to support FEMA Region III in increasing resilience to flooding risks across the Mid-Atlantic region. This is an opportunity to work exclusively with a prominent national government client and create impactful work that advances grassroots disaster risk reduction, sustainability and resilience campaigns. Please note that this position will be based in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities

In this role, the Senior Account Executive will support the team’s efforts in flood risk-related outreach and engagement with national, regional and local stakeholders. This will partly be through the development of messaging campaigns and translating technical information into easy to understand language to influence behavior change, but also by planning the “nuts and bolts” logistics of public meetings and community events.

 

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Performs day-to-day account management work (tracking work progress against timelines, etc.)
  • Manages and executes engagement events, including: coordination of the content, location, attendees, and format in direct consultation with local jurisdictions, the States, and federal agencies; experience hosting webinars useful
  • Supports the development and coordination of localized strategic communication plans and content related to community resilience for local, state, and Tribal governments
  • Conducts research and prepares a variety of written materials including community profiles, engagement reports, communications plans, meeting logistics plans, partnership agreements, locally tailored outreach tools and materials, and project management tracking tools (GANTT Charts, etc.)
  • Travels for community engagement events within the states of PA, WV, VA, MD and the District of Columbia



Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of communications experience with emphasis on community engagement, media relations and social media engagement; prior agency experience strongly preferred
  • Proven project management track record; able to manage projects against tight timelines in a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams, able to deal with ambiguous situations and competing deadlines, and prioritize quickly and efficiently
  • Self-motivated and resourceful; able to follow direction but also able to anticipate potential roadblocks and communicate in advance
  • Flexible and adaptive person who can adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and cope effectively with complexity and change
  • Shows strong team communication and commitment; demonstrates reliability, flexibility, curiosity, most importantly good listening skills
  • Exceptional writing ability with experience developing all forms of communication including strategic plans, op-eds, editorials, news releases, newsletters, and content for web and social media channels
