Ogilvy Denver is seeking an experienced communications professional to join our dynamic account team leading on social change, public affairs and grassroots issues across the Rocky Mountain Region. This is an opportunity to work exclusively with a prominent national government client – the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) – and create impactful work that advances regional and national disaster risk reduction, sustainability and resilience campaigns.


In this role, the Account Executive (AE) will support the team’s efforts in outreach and engagement with national, regional and local stakeholders; development of partnerships and coalitions with government, non-profit and subject matter experts, including, floodplain managers, community planners, engineers and environmental planners; and creation of messaging campaigns and translation of technical information into easy-to-understand language to influence behavior change. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Perform day-to-day account management work
  • Manage and execute engagement projects, including coordination of the content, location, attendees and format in direct consultation with local jurisdictions, states and federal agencies
  • Support the development and coordination of localized strategic communication plans and content related to community resilience for local, state and tribal governments
  • Perform research
  • Develop and manage existing and new partnerships with local influencers; consumer, non‐profit, and business organizations; and professional organizations
  • Prepare a variety of written materials, including community profiles, engagement reports, communications plans, partnership agreements, locally tailored outreach tools and materials, and reports
  • Identify opportunities for more creative and comprehensive outreach and communication materials that visually describe engagement processes
  • Potential travel for community engagement activities in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming, as well as Washington, D.C.


  • 2-3 years of communications experience with emphasis on community engagement, media relations and social media engagement; prior agency experience strongly preferred
  • Capacity to work on multiple projects with aggressive timelines
  • Proven track record of project management and task prioritization
  • Self-motivated and resourceful; able to follow direction but also capable of anticipating and communicating potential roadblocks
  • Strong researching and writing skills, with the ability to translate highly technical information into easy-to-understand language
  • Experience developing all forms of communication, including strategic plans, op-eds, editorials, news releases, newsletters and content for online channels.
  • Able to plan, coordinate and execute events, notably community meetings or press conferences
  • Experience helping coordinate media/presentation training
  • Exhibits strong team communication and commitment; demonstrates reliability, flexibility and intellectual curiosity
  • Familiarity with any of the following areas preferred - hazard mitigation planning, disaster risk reduction planning, sustainable development, land-use planning/zoning, data analytics, Geospatial Information System (GIS), climate change adaptation, and/or resilience planning

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
