  • Overview

     Data Strategists are as analytical as they are collaborative across multiple disciplines and client stakeholders. They are passionate about coaching non-analytical thinkers to vet their concepts against what is known about target audience and business needs, and developing approaches to root decisions in data. These individuals are accustomed to analyzing multiple sources of information and using data to highlight business opportunities, inform product vision and define an ongoing measurement plan. 

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Work closely with clients to understand business and user experience goals to establish key performance indicators (KPIs), recommend user experience optimizations and identify tools and methodologies needed to evaluate success
    • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive data and measurement strategies across a range of digital products and ensure design teams align their direction and decision-making with their clients' desired business outcomes
    • Analyze multiple sources of data to surface customer behaviors (needs, pain points, etc.), identify opportunities to drive improvements and communicate the value design optimizations could drive for clients’ customers and business
    • Own key data-driven outputs (for example: measurement plans, data-driven journey maps and personas, KPI scorecards, etc.) and ensure design teams leverage throughout the design process to inform and measure outputs
    • Help inform design decision-making based on engagement patterns over time and provide ongoing insight into the effectiveness of the design teams’ solutions 
    • Collaborate with Researchers on key testing activities to establish quantitative benchmarks and measure design outputs against KPIs
    • Serve as an educator and evangelist of data-driven principles to internal cross-functional teams and external prospects 
    • Identify new opportunities to use data and analytics to advance our offerings and industry thought leadership 
    • Perform cross-project data mining to help build company's internal database of benchmarks and research which supports future projects, sales and thought leadership

    Qualifications

    • Proven working experience as a data driven thinker with strong background in research and data analysis (4-6 years of relevant experience)
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations from data
    • Experience working with multiple data types and sets (examples include: web analytics, marketing data, sales data, call center data, etc.)
    • Basic understanding of analytics tagging principles, best practices and tools (examples include: Google Tag Manager, DTM, etc.)
    • Experience with key quantitative research and testing methodologies and tools (examples include: survey design and analysis, user testing, A/B and multivariate testing)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and present data and insights to both internal teams and clients
    • Self-starter with strong project management skills, attention to detail and ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment
    • Hands on experience with web analytics and business intelligence tools (examples include: Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics/Omniture Site Catalyst, Keen, Tableau, Data Studio, etc.)
    • Strong Excel skills (including: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, large files, graphing, etc.)

    Preferred Skills

    • Strong thought leadership on assessing clients' current measurement state and ability to recommend more effective methodologies and tools
    • Ability to develop, implement and validate analytics tagging strategies as needed across a range of digital products and platforms
    • Experience working with product and development teams to ensure site/application is tagged for accurate and meaningful data collection
    • Experience designing and running live testing methodologies (A/B, multivariate) and tools
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and data visualization tools (examples include: Tableau, Data Studio, etc.)
    • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (examples include: Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.)
    • Knowledge of website development and experience working with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
    • Experience working with a data analyst or business analyst
