  • Overview

    Ogilvy is seeking an accomplished Public Relations Professional to join as Managing Director to lead our highly integrated, collaborative corporate team. To be considered for this position, candidates should have fifteen plus years of experience in a Public Relations agency, corporate communications, or some combination of both, in a senior-level role reflecting experience with business development, people leadership and financial management. The talent must have prior experience working with financial services with strong knowledge of media -- asset management, fintech (AI, blockchain, etc.), banking, personal finance, insurance -- for B2B and/or B2C audiences -- and solid reporter relationships are key. An understanding of social and digital marketing and experience with integrated campaigns is a big plus.

    The Managing Director will be responsible for all aspects of the Public Relations business in including, client service, business development, talent management and financial performance. This role will oversee planning and execution of high-quality client programs to meet business objectives and to grow existing business; develop and lead new client business; and manage and cultivate staff.

     

    The Ogilvy culture is dynamic, creative and highly collaborative and requires leaders who are adept at forming partnerships and creating teams to move business objectives forward. This position will have the ability to make significant contributions to strategic direction for clients, the PR discipline and Ogilvy as a whole. The MD will report to the Group Managing Director, Head of Influence and Public Relations Domain.

    Responsibilities

    Core Responsibilities & Skills:

    The Managing Director will help drive business growth effectively lead the team and build key relationships within the Ogilvy network. To that end, the MD will:

    • Successfully drive and develop new business opportunities
    • Strengthen and expand existing client relationships with compelling ideas and quality service
    • Develop and maintain successful working relationships with senior management team of Ogilvy around the world, including counterparts in other offices
    • Provide counsel, strategy and direction of accounts
    • Manage profitability and financial aspects of accounts
    • Maintain industry contacts to keep informed on leading industry trends, while monitoring the overall landscape for reputational risk for the firm and its clients
    • Become trusted advisor to C-Suite executives seeking sound communications counsel on managing reputational, brand and/or business impact
    • Identify and successfully recruit top talent
    • Motivate and develop staff at all levels
    • Manage the PR operating plan (budget and P&L) for growth and profit
    • Integrate with other capabilities like advertising, customer engagement etc.

     

    Managing Directors must have:

    • 15 plus years of experience within Corporate Reputation Management, Consumer Marketing or some combination on the client-side, agency or both
    • Demonstrated business development prowess
    • Ability to think creatively and strategically with a global perspective
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills that enable collaboration and team building
    • Exceptional presentation and writing skills
    • Ability to budget programs and manage client finances
    • Seasoned knowledge and comfort in the Digital space
    • Able to gain credibility in the organization and the external market
    • Ability to effectively lead complex initiatives that require collaboration across lines
    • Ability to make sound decisions and drive forward in uncertain/ambiguous situations
    • Ability to set and achieve aggressive goals while knowing when to engage key stakeholders
    • Sound judgment and the capacity to accurately assess complicated situations
    • Drive fueled by the success of others and the team effort versus personal ego

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Working knowledge of asset management and/or financial services generally.
    • Excellent relationships with financial reporters/editors who cover asset management and/or institutional wealth management.
    • Track record of successful campaigns in thought leadership, executive visibility, global research findings.
    • Experience (or interest) in working across marketing and comms disciplines (ad, brand, social, other) and geographies.
    • Track record in large, global accounts -- on both client and agency sides, building camaraderie, trust and team enthusiasm to build momentum and do well by the client.
    • Bring passion to the account and the team, keeping everyone focused on key goals, build momentum
    • Ability to put him/herself in client's shoes and see all aspects of the account from client's perspective; go the extra mile to make sure it's done right.
    • Support team to make sure we're delivering our best work.
    • Anticipate client needs and bring suggestions to the table on how to expand current projects that will raise clients' visibility and increase ROI.
    • Creative thinker who generates ideas for client
    • Strong writing and listening skills, good budgeting/admin
