    Are you passionate about leading social change that reduces vulnerability to natural disasters? Ogilvy is seeking a middle-level communications professional to join the Washington, D.C. office as an Account Supervisor within the award-winning Government Practice (NOTE: the position will be based full-time in Philadelphia as part of a remote team). In this role you will support FEMA Region III in increasing resilience to flooding risks across the Mid-Atlantic region. This is an opportunity to work exclusively with a prominent national government client and create impactful work that advances grassroots disaster risk reduction, sustainability and resilience campaigns.  By joining Ogilvy’s Government Practice, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team dedicated to helping people be safer, healthier, and happier through social marketing initiatives -- with a focus on public health communications.

     

    Our Account Supervisors are responsible for the day to day program management of their client account(s).  They are the trusted partner and point of contact for mid-level clients partnering with account leadership to deliver operational discipline and delivery excellence, speed to market, resource optimization, and profitability management to their business(es). Account Supervisors are efficient operators, who demonstrate strong all-around communications abilities and business and financial acumen. They are highly organized and accountable account leaders, who are able to build relationships and collaborate with/draw on the expertise of all Ogilvy’s capabilities. 

     

    In this particular role, the Account Supervisor will support the team’s efforts in flood risk-related outreach partly through the development of messaging campaigns and translating technical information into easy to understand language to influence behavior change, but also by planning the “nuts and bolts” logistics of public meetings and community events.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs day-to-day account management work (tracking work progress against timelines, etc.)
    • Manages and executes engagement events, including: coordination of the content, location, attendees, and format in direct consultation with local jurisdictions, the States, and federal agencies; experience hosting webinars useful
    • Works integrally with all internal team members to facilitate the process of developing effective strategies
    • Identifies potential project risks and develops contingency plans
    • Understands & respects every department’s role in delivering great work and building relationships
    • Supports the development and coordination of localized strategic communication plans and content related to community resilience for local, state, and Tribal governments
    • Conducts research and prepares a variety of written materials including meeting logistics plans, partnership agreements, locally tailored outreach tools and materials, meeting follow up reports, communications plans, and project management tracking tools (GANTT Charts, etc.)
    • Travels for community engagement events within the states of PA, WV, VA, MD, DE and the District of Columbia

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of professional experience with emphasis on community engagement and event coordination; prior agency experience strongly preferred; understanding of urban planning a plus
    • Proven project management track record; able to manage projects against tight timelines in a proactive and collaborative style that works well in teams, able to deal with ambiguous situations and competing deadlines, and prioritize quickly and efficiently
    • Self-motivated and resourceful; able to follow direction but also able to anticipate potential roadblocks and communicate in advance
    • Flexible and adaptive person who can adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and cope effectively with complexity and change
    • Shows strong team communication and commitment; demonstrates reliability, flexibility, curiosity, most importantly good listening skills
    • Exhibits a sense of curiosity about client work and seeks more information and knowledge in response
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
