Overview

Ogilvy is seeking a driven, social/digital-savvy entry level designer to join the DC creative team. As junior graphic designer, you will be able to touch a range of platforms & communication vehicles in design exploration and production: web, mobile, digital/social content, advertising, and presentations.  This opportunity is for someone who geeks out on typography, layout exploration. Someone who loves discussing design approach and its role in creative problem solving.

 

The DC office has had a lot of success in doing government work for social good and now has a new CCO charged with bringing in new private-sector clients ready to do great work. The pace is rigorous with a lot of project work while also a lot of volume as it is an integrated environment. You’ll be working hard in a creative team full of nice, talented people who are excited to work with you, who will actively mentor you and set you up for success under the guidance of the new CCO.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of art directors and associate creative directors
  • Work with producers and strategists to ensure alignment of the work with creative brief and timelines
  • Work with writers and content strategists to define well-integrated social experiences
  • Engage in design layout explorations – ability to conceptualize ideas through design, illustration, typography, photography
  • Provide rationales for design choices and approaches
  • Work with multiple teams, vendors, partners, and management
  • Work on production and documentation of design systems

Qualifications

  • Strong online portfolio that demonstrates graphic design, interaction design, typography, storytelling; plus, the ability to clearly discuss design and conceptual approach to creative problem solving.
  • A solid understanding of typography, layout is a must. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced by being flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with multiple teams, vendors, partners, and management
  • Strategic mindset
  • Expertise in Adobe® Creative Studio
  • BFA in Graphic or Digital Media Design (or significant equivalent experience)
  • 0-2 years of advertising agency experience
